Many people end up at www.UnchainYourDog.org because they are looking for information on dog fighting. We agree with hip-hop mogul Russell Simmons that Cruel's Not Cool (Listen to Simmons or see poster).

Please, have a heart and treat other living and feeling creatures the way you want to be treated: with respect and kindness. Dogs are social animals who - in the wild - hunt together, sleep together, and play together. It is a dog's nature to respect the pack leader and get along with the rest of the pack. Not to fight. Dogfighting is cruel, unnatural, and wrong.

Dog fighting is a felony, so report it to the police! To learn more about dog fighting and how to stop it, visit our Dogfighting page.

November 16, 2004, JACKSONVILLE, FL -- Police are investigating a possible dog fighting ring on the First Coast. It involves a three-year-old pit bull named Holly, just returned to her family. Police say she's one of several dogs stolen from their homes and possibly forced into fighting. Holly's owner, Wayne Jaudon, tells the gruesome story. "It was four against one," he said. "She wouldn't fight so they started beating her to make her fight."

On Monday night, Holly's breathing was shallow and her body covered by one bite mark after another. Holly is again at home after a tip call pointing the owner to a home. He found Holly in bad condition there. Jaudon points out the numerous lacerations on Holly's body, the family dog he bought for his little girl.

On Sunday night, Holly was stolen from her backyard for what police believe could be a dog fighting ring. "You've got two to three reports where pit bulls were stolen and allegations that people are making these dogs fight," said Ken Jefferson with the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office.

Police arrested 21-year-old Terrance Freeman on animal cruelty charges. They say Freeman was arrested while running from Brentwood Park. His own pit bull was found chained to the fence, badly injured after what appeared to be a dog fight. Police believe Freeman was forcing dogs to fight in a local park. Animal control is now involved in the investigation.
